The Italian Pavilion by Ucima at ProPak Asia
Italy will be strongly represented at ProPak Asia 2026, taking place from 10 to 13 June in Bangkok, thanks to the Italian Pavilion organised by Ucima, with the support of the Italian Embassy in Bangkok, ICE Agency, and the backing of IPACK IMA.
The collective participation brings together more than 40 Italian companies across an exhibition area of almost 1,200 square metres in Hall C2, making it one of the largest international presences at the show, which from this year is hosted at the new IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Centre.
Within the Italian area, a large institutional lounge will be set up to host B2B meetings between exhibiting companies and selected operators from South East Asia, coordinated by ICE Agency, as well as dedicated networking activities. ICE Agency has also overseen the overall communication strategy for the Italian presence at the fair. The participation is part of We Make Packaging, the international tour and brand through which Ucima promotes Italian packaging and processing technologies worldwide, highlighting the sector’s technological and manufacturing excellence.
A global market in transition
Geopolitical conflicts and disruptions to supply chains are having a significant impact on the global packaging industry. In Asia, one of the most visible effects is the sharp increase in raw material costs, particularly plastic resins, which have seen price rises of between 50% and 70%, coupled with supply shortages.
According to Informa Markets Thailand, organiser of ProPak Asia, the packaging sector is responding by accelerating the transition towards alternative materials and increasing investments in new production technologies.
According to leading market analysts, the global packaging market is now valued at over USD 1 trillion, with average annual growth of 3-4%. Within this context, the sustainable packaging segment is growing more rapidly, at around 7% per year, driven by circular economy models and increasing demand for recyclable, reusable and compostable solutions.
The ThailandStar Awards
ProPak Asia 2026 confirms its role as a reference platform for the Asian processing and packaging industry. The 2026 edition will also host the ThailandStar Packaging Awards, organised in partnership with the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technological Research (TISTR) and the Thailand Institute of Packaging and Recycling Management for Sustainable Environment (TIPMSE), under the theme “Packaging Beyond the Box”.
