Hygienic standards for primary packaging

The primary area is often dedicated to packing food products, pharmaceutical products and other articles that require high standards of hygiene. The drive systems for these types of applications must be easy to clean and be resistant to chemical detergents and any contaminations.

Electric drive technology in secondary packaging

NORD’s drive solutions are protagonists also in secondary packaging areas, from conveyor belts to labelling machines. Electric drive systems are increasingly chosen because they ensure precision, control and repeatability over time, therefore requiring less maintenance and offering greater efficiency compared to the still widely used pneumatic drive systems.

This applies, for example, to the mounting, loading or sealing of boxes. NORD’s gearboxes are advantageous in this case too, implementing simple and fast movements with high transmission ratios combined with motors with up to IE5+ efficiency, controlled by drive on board or on the machine, completely customisable like NORDAC FLEX, LINK, or the latest new entry, NORDAC ON, already set up for various industrial Ethernet connections.

Making the different in the end-of-line
NORD’s solutions can be effective also in end-of-line packaging, in which heavy loads, high forces, long distances, slow movements and dynamic load changes are the norm. It’s a market segment in which gearmotor solutions are used that guarantee constant torque in an increasingly wider range of speeds. The aim is to ensure a significant reduction of the variants with a consequent optimisation of the parts, within a framework of maximum energy efficiency. Among the new developments in this sector, there’s DuoDrive, which integrates a single-stage reducer and an IE5+ motor in a monobloc case to ensure silence, compactness and efficiency. Decentralized or panel drives can be associated with these transmission systems, depending on the application of the plant.

Both solutions are able to manage positioning with the aid of encoders and to communicate with the most widespread industrial communication buses. These include the new NORDAC PRO, a compact and versatile control panel drive equipped with a multi-protocol Ethernet interface, able to manage both synchronous and asynchronous motors with or without encoder, to guarantee maximum dynamic control of the load.
